All Airline Seats Have To Be Sit Upright When Landing Or Taking Off. Why?

The US Federal Aviation Administration explains the reason to put the seats on the plan to upright position is to make evacuation in case of emergency on the plane easier and reduce injuries. Therefore, the FAA has taken this simple request into a mandatory legislation.

More air crashes occur on landing or takeoff on the ground. A study on the Boeing planes obtained 58% of dangerous accidents occurring during that time. When flight attendants make sure that the seat backs are up, which means that you do not become tangled in the chair when you are on an escape in case of emergency. No one wants to stop the evacuation process to move chairs during and after the accident.

The chair in the upright position during the take-off and landing also minimizes the possibility of accident in which your face collided with the seat in front. This is also the same with the person who sits behind. If you pull your seat up, you will also reduce the risk of head injury, impact and many more.

In addition, if crew members realize that there is an imminent accident or emergency, they will require passengers to hold positions for an emergency landing on the head that is bent forward. The British Civil Aviation Authority said that "Passengers can only change their posture easily by sitting straight. When you are in danger, you do not have to take more time to move the chair and hold your position."

When the stewardess asks you to lift the backs of seats each on the taking off plane and landing, they do not want to ruin your dream or your comfort. They just make sure you follow the rules.
