Why Do Manufactures Equip New Smartphone With Water And Dust Resistance?
In the last few years, almost every smartphone manufactures in the world are trying to release their new products equipped with the IP standard which help cellphones resist again water and dust. At the beginning of this trend, this ability is only seen in military cellphones, leading by Caterpillar Inc. The phones, however, was not thin or fashionable at all. They were big, thick, rock-look-alike.
Recently, the water and dust resistance ability has been brought to new elegant thin smartphones such as Samsung S7 & S7 Edge, Motorola G4 & G4 Plus, and the latest ones are iPhone 7 & 7 Plus. However, Sony is the one who led this trend on smartphone when they released the Xperia Z series in 2013 to the world market. But why now people want this ability?
It's barely to know that this kind of phone (water and dust resistant) was first invented just for the needs of Japanese women because they want to use cellphone everywhere they want at any time, especially when they taking shower. In Japan, 95% of smartphones on the domestic market from Sony, Sharp, Panasonic, etc. has the water resistant ability. In other words, if you want your products to be sold in Japan, water resistant ability is a must-have.
Thanks to the Japanese women, we now have the chance to use this ability on our smartphone now. It really helps for any unwanted accidents such as sudden rains, falling to a pool, etc.
