Swimming With Blue Whales? Why Not?
Watching them from a distance is scary enough for many people. Swimming close to them, however, is just for dare-devil people. An Australian daring photographer has made an amazing trip to the blue ocean swimming with blue whales and produced a great album of her journey. Rita Kluge said she could understand and fell in love with them more and more when swimming with them longer and longer.
Rita decided to leave Sydney and started her project in the South Pacific Ocean. With a long love with Blue Whales, she chose Tonga at the reproductive seasons to make the album more meaningful. This album has gotten lots of attentions and positive comments from the viewers.
"This is like a dream for me. This place (Tonga island) is a peaceful remote place. It is very quiet, clean and far away from the noisy modern world.", she shared, "The blue whales in the ocean are very interested and unique. Each individual is different but only when you try to notice that.
Swimming close to blue whales as well as sea turtles, sharks, etc, is not too dangerous as people think. All one need is to keep a safe distance with them and do not make any aggressive moves. "They have no intention to attack us. They love playing around. To be able to make friend with them, you just need to read their body language and react nicely. When a whale comes straight to you, watching his tale. All he want is to have fun with you.", she explained excitedly.
